Olá, austenianos e tolkenianos.

2012 chegando ao fim, 2013 batendo na porta já... Pelos blogs a comemoração do bicentenário de lançamento de Orgulho e Preconceito, de Jane Austen, já começou. E a expectativa para o lançamento do tão aguardado filme O Hobbit, baseado no livro homônimo de J.R.R. Tolkien, acaba hoje, dia 14 de dezembro, quando estreará nos cinemas pelo mundo. Por esses excelentes motivos, resolvi fazer uma promoção aqui (a primeira do blog, em parceria com o Hot Rio Chick).

Desde que Darcy soube que Elizabeth está vivendo em Londres, não tem mais jeito. Ele pensa nela o tempo todo. Com alguma ajuda de um menino chamado Charlie, ele começa a espionar Elizabeth, só para saber quais são suas condições de vida. O que ele não parece saber é que esse conhecimento constante vai torná-lo mais apaixonado por ela do que nunca.

O livro de Abigail Reynolds começa com um desabafo de Bingley, que revela a Darcy que Mr. Bennet está morto e é por isso que Lizzie está vivendo em Londres e Jane está casada com um comerciante, desta forma fora do alcance de Bingley.

Darcy não consegue tirar Elizabeth de sua cabeça, e logo começa a procurar saber sobre ela. Ele paga um menino chamado Charlie para espionar Elizabeth. Ao descobrir que ela vai caminhar todas as manhãs em Moorsfield, ele não consegue se controlar. Após uma breve reunião, a única coisa que ele pode fazer é esperar pelo dia seguinte. Elizabeth, também, passa muito tempo pensando sobre seus encontros agradáveis.

Depois de Bingley decidir deixar a tola e fútil sociedade londrina, Darcy começa a pensar sobre sua vida. O desejo incontrolável de ter Elizabeth como senhora de Permberley apenas cresce com os dias, mas ele ainda não consegue virar as costas para a “boa” sociedade. Até ...

Esse livro tem tudo que uma sequência de Jane Austen precisa ter: paixão, mal-entendidos e personagens com os sentimentos mais poderosos. Somos apresentados a personagens que, apesar de não aparecerem no romance original, não prejudicam o enredo do livro. Pelo contrário, só tornam-no mais divertido. Os personagens originais também não mudaram: Lydia continua a mesma garota tola e inconsequente, Georgiana ainda é uma menina doce e o Coronel Fitzwilliam continua sendo um homem agradável.

Mr. Darcy’s obsession é um dos melhores livros que eu já li. Apresentando um Mr. Darcy mais do que nunca apaixonado, o livro é muito recomendado para todas aquelas que sonham com o herói romântico mais encantador de Jane Austen.

The Abigail Reynolds book opens with a outflow of Bingley, who reveals to Darcy that Mr. Bennet is dead and thats why Lizzie is living in London and Jane is married to a shopkeeper, this way out of Bingley's reach.

Darcy can’t take Elizabeth out of his mind, and soon begins to find out about her. He pays a boy named Charlie to spy on Elizabeth. Discovering that she goes walking all mornings in Moorsfield, he can’t stop himself. After a brief meeting, the only thing he can do is await the next day. Elizabeth, too, spends a lot of time thinking about their pleasant meetings.

After Bingley take the resolution of leaving the foolish and futile London society, Darcy begins to think about his life. The incontrolable desire of having Elizabeth as mistress of Permberley just grows with the days, but he still can’t turn his back to the "good" society. Until...

This book has everything a Jane Austen sequel must have: passion, misunderstandings and characters with the most powerful feelings. We are introduced to characters who, despite not appear in the original novel, not affect the plot of the book. Instead, just make it more fun. The original characters also have not changed: Lydia is still the same silly and inconsequential girl, Georgiana is still a sweet girl and Colonel Fitzwilliam continues to be a nice man.

Mr. Darcy's obsession is one of the best books I've ever read. Introducing a Mr. Darcy more than ever in love, the book is highly recommended for all those who dream of the most charming romantic hero of Jane Austen.

A frase de abertura da história resume o que todos os leitores de Jane Austen sabem sobre Mr. Darcy.

A história de Janet Aylmer começa antes do infeliz acontecimento em que Georgiana Darcy é enganada por Mr. Wickham. Seguindo fielmente os acontecimentos de Orgulho e Preconceito, o leitor segue Darcy e conhece o seu lado da história: os reais pensamentos de Darcy por trás de sua recusa em dançar com Elizabeth no baile em Meryton, seu encanto com a moça durante a breve convivência em Netherfield, sua constante irritação com Miss Bingley, sua consciência de que estava a ponto de se apaixonar, seu “ciúme” e dúvida quanto a convivência de Elizabeth e Wickham e, finalmente, a declaração de seus sentimentos e seu desastroso pedido de casamento. Após esse evento, a história se torna mais interessante, pois é possível ver o conflito interior pelo qual Darcy passa, conflito esse que faz o leitor ter a chance de desenvolver um novo sentimento pelo personagem. Relembrando as acusações de Elizabeth, ele se torna disposto a melhor seu comportamento e só deseja poder encontrá-la de novo. Quando isso acontece, Wickham aparece para estragar tudo. Por Elizabeth, Darcy resolve a situação. E tenta, assim como Elizabeth quando eles se encontram novamente, retomar sua amizade com a moça. Sem nenhum encorajamento por parte dela e sem querer ver a felicidade de Bingley e Jane, pois achava que não teria a chance de experimentar o mesmo sentimento, a visita de sua tia Lady Catherine de Bourgh muda tudo.

O livro proporciona uma leitura agradável, pois o leitor toma conhecimento do lado mais pessoal do caráter de Darcy através de seus pensamentos, pois ele não vocaliza suas opiniões (apesar de alguns diálogos serem extremamente parecidos com aqueles vistos em Orgulho e Preconceito). Apesar de certas críticas quanto à autora não seguir o estilo de Jane Austen, o livro é muito recomendado.

The opening sentence of the story sums up what all Jane Austen’s readers know about Mr. Darcy.

Janet Aylmer's story begins before the unfortunate event between Georgiana Darcy is and Mr. Wickham. Faithfully following the events of Pride and Prejudice, the reader follows Darcy and know your side of the story: the real thoughts of Darcy behind his refusal to dance with Elizabeth at the ball in Meryton, his charm with the lady during the brief coexistence in Netherfield, his constant irritation with Miss Bingley, his consciousness that he was about to fall in love, his jealousy and doubt about the familiarity between Elizabeth and Wickham, and finally the declaration of her feelings and her disastrous marriage proposal. After this event, the story becomes more interesting because it is possible to see the inner conflict in which Darcy is, this conflict that gives to reader a chance to develop a new feeling for Darcy’s character. Recalling the accusations of Elizabeth, he becomes willing to improve his behavior and only wish he could see her again. When this happens, Wickham appears to ruin everything. For Elizabeth, Darcy resolves the situation. And try, as well as Elizabeth when they meet again, to resume his friendship with the lady. Without any encouragement from her and not wanting to see the happiness of Bingley and Jane, because he thought he would not have a chance to experience the same feeling, the visit of his aunt Lady Catherine de Bourgh changes everything.

The book provides an enjoyable read because the reader learns the more personal side of the character of Darcy through their thoughts, because he did not vocalize their opinions (although some dialogues are extremely similar to those seen in Pride and Prejudice). Despite some criticism about the author did not follow the style of Jane Austen, the book is highly recommended.

Objetos de desejo - parte 3

Eu descobri, dentre várias sequências das obras de Austen, a de Pamela Aidan, Fitzwiilliam Darcy, Gentleman (uma trilogia) e a de Rebecca Ann Collins, Pemberley Chronicles.

A primeira série, Fitzwilliam Darcy, Gentleman é composta dos livros An Assembly such as this, Duty and Desire e These three remain. Esses livros são uma continuação de Orgulho e Preconceito e o estilo da escritora é bom (já li uns pedacinhos). Na realidade, a história é a mesma do romance, mas a partir do ponto de vista de Mr. Darcy, o que torna a série bem interessante.

A outra série, Pemberley Chronicles, é composta de 10 livros: A companion volume to Jane Austen's P&P, Women of Pemberley, Netherfield Park Revisited, The Ladies of Longbourn, Mr. Darcy's Daughter, My Cousin Caroline, Postscript from Pemberley, Recollections of Rosings, A woman of influence e The Legacy of Pemberley. Essa série contêm histórias variadas, os livros não são sequenciais como os da séie anterior.

A primeira série está a venda na Livraria Cultura por um preço bom, apesar de ser importado. Já a segunda ainda não achei vendendo em canto nenhum.
