Em 2009, foi realizada uma competição chamada Jane Austen Short Story Competição, para celebrar os 200 anos da chegada de Jane Austen para Chawton. Os escritores deveriam escrever pequenas histórias tendo como tema a autora, suas obras, sua casa em Chawton ou a Chawton House Library. O resultado é este livro, com 20 histórias escritas por mulheres. De variadas idades, atuando em diferentes profissões, algumas americanas outras britânicas, todas tem em comum a paixão por Jane Austen e suas obras.

Li esse livro por pura curiosidade. Há bastante tempo vejo indicações, leio resenhas, mas só agora resolvi parar para lê-lo. As histórias são bem legais, meu conto favorito foi o penúltimo, “We need to talk about Mr. Collins”, de Mary Howell. No final, o leitor também é apresentado a breves biografias das autoras que contribuíram para o livro. De forma geral, gostei bastante. É muito bom ver o quanto Jane Austen pode ser inspiradora. Infelizmente, não tem nada a ver com dançando com Mr. Darcy, mas ainda assim vale como puro entretenimento.

In 2009, was conducted a competition called Jane Austen Short Story Competition, to celebrate the 200 years of Jane Austens arrival in Chawton village. The writers should write short stories having as theme the author, her works, her home in Chawton, or the Chawton House Library. The result was this book, with 20 stories written by women. Of varying ages, working in different professions, some other British Americans, all have in common a passion for Jane Austen and her works.

I read this book out of sheer curiosity. For some time I saw indications, read reviews, but only now decided to stop and read it. The stories are great, my favorite was the penultimate tale, "We need to talk about Mr. Collins," Mary Howell. In the end, the reader is also presented with brief biographies of the authors who contributed to the book. Overall, I really liked it. It's great to see how Jane Austen can be inspiring. Unfortunately, it has nothing to do with dancing with Mr. Darcy, but still worth it as pure entertainment.
